Ok so this may be stupid but I really want to know if the gov. gets any of the donation money. And if a donation is made to a campaign can some of that be donated to a good cause?

No money donated to individual campaigns goes to the government, and there are strict limits regarding what the campaign can do with the money – they can’t donate it to other causes.
